## Current Project Status (Round 11 — DrawingCanvas, Versioning, Student Auth, Parent Portal, Calendar, Reports, Import/Export)

### Assessment
- App loads correctly at localhost:3000

- DrawingCanvas now actually renders inside notebook pages (was previously a placeholder)
- Notebook versioning with full history, preview, and restore functionality
- Student login workflow with 3-tab auth UI (Teacher/Student/Parent)
- Parent portal with dedicated dashboard, navigation, and parent-student linking
- Calendar recurring events with series/instance editing
- Grade report PDF generation with template selection and batch generation
- Data import/export with CSV drag-and-drop and 5 export types
- 100+ new i18n keys added
- 3 new Prisma models/fields (NotebookPageVersion, ParentStudentLink, CalendarEvent recurrence fields)
- 22 files changed, 3982 insertions, 312 deletions

### Completed Modifications (Round 11)

1. **DrawingCanvas Integration Fix**
   - Replaced placeholder div with actual DrawingCanvas component rendering in notebook pages
   - Passed backgroundType from currentPage.background (with fallback to notebook.notebookType)
   - Passed initialDrawingData from currentPage.drawingData
   - Added handleDrawingSave callback to save drawing data to page + create version
   - Added onExit callback to toggle drawing mode off
   - Added drawing indicator badge in save bar when page has drawingData
   - Added "Edit Drawing" button in save bar when page has drawingData and not in drawing mode
   - Added drawing indicator icon on PageThumbnail for pages with drawingData

2. **Notebook Versioning**
   - New Prisma model: `NotebookPageVersion` (id, pageId, version auto-incrementing, textContent, drawingData, editedBy, editSummary, createdAt)
   - Added versions relation to NotebookPage model
   - API endpoint `/api/notebooks/[id]/pages/[pageId]/versions/route.ts`:
     - GET: List all versions of a page (ordered by version desc)
     - POST: Create a new version from current page content
     - PUT: Restore a specific version (creates pre-restore snapshot + restored version)
     - Max 50 versions per page enforcement (deletes older ones)
   - Version History UI:
     - VersionHistoryDialog component with visual timeline (dots + connectors)
     - Timeline dots: emerald pulsing for current, emerald solid for previewed, gray for others
     - Version entries show: version number, "Current" badge for latest, edit summary badge, timestamp
     - Content preview with HTML stripped to plain text (line-clamp-2)
     - Drawing indicator on versions with drawingData
     - "Restore version" button with AlertDialog confirmation
   - Auto-versioning on save (manual save + drawing save)
   - Version creation is non-critical (try/catch, failures don't block the save)

3. **Student Login Workflow**
   - Enhanced auth-view.tsx with 3-tab login: Teacher/Admin, Student, Parent
   - Student tab: School ID field, simplified interface, info message about accounts created by teachers
   - Parent tab: Heart icon, info message about parent portal, email + password login
   - Animated role icons on left illustration panel
   - Forgot Password link with role-specific demo info
   - Role-specific welcome messages after login
   - Student account creation (single) in settings: name, email, default password, link to student record
   - Bulk student account creation: default password, email domain, student selection with checkboxes
   - STUDENT and PARENT roles added to user role selector

4. **Parent Portal**
   - New Prisma model: `ParentStudentLink` with relations to User, Student, School
   - API routes: `/api/parent-links/route.ts` (GET, POST, DELETE) and `/api/parent-links/[id]/route.ts` (GET, PUT, DELETE)
   - ParentDashboard component with:
     - My Children card listing linked students with class and relationship badges
     - Recent Progress card with student progress overview
     - Upcoming Assessments card
     - Messages from Teachers card
     - Attendance Summary card
     - Calendar card
     - Parent-specific welcome header with violet/purple color scheme
   - Parent navigation: Dashboard, My Children, Messages, Calendar
   - Student self-view with "My Progress" mastery visualization bar
   - Parent Info section for parent users with linked children

5. **Calendar Recurring Events**
   - Updated Prisma schema with recurrence fields: recurrencePattern, recurrenceEnd, parentEventId (self-relation)
   - Updated Calendar Events API (POST/GET/PUT/DELETE) with recurring event support and child event generation
   - Edit series/instance dialog with series/instance edit modes and delete modes
   - Recurring event UI: repeat type, interval, days of week selector, end options
   - Recurring indicator on calendar events

6. **Grade Report PDF Generation**
   - Enhanced Grade Report PDF API: template selection (short/full/custom), student avatars, grades table, eco watermark
   - On-the-fly generation by studentId
   - Reports View enhancements: PDF generation button (FileDown), template selector, batch generate, download history

7. **Data Import/Export**
   - Created Data Import API: CSV import for students/assessments/grades, sample CSV downloads, import summary
   - Enhanced Data Export API: 5 export types (students, assessments, grades, attendance, progress), export history tracking
   - Settings View: import drag-and-drop zone, type selector, progress indicator, import summary, sample downloads

8. **Styling Improvements**
   - Drawing canvas polish: zoom controls (ZoomIn/ZoomOut, 25-200%), better tool styling, larger color swatches, undo/redo animations
   - Notebook detail view: slide-in animation (spring transition), drawing mode toggle with emerald shadow
   - Page thumbnails: hover shadow effect, drawing indicators
   - Global CSS additions: .animate-slide-in, .animate-slide-out, .animate-pulse-dot, .canvas-toolbar, .version-timeline
   - File drop zone (.file-drop-zone), import progress (.import-progress), report preview (.report-preview), eco watermark (.watermark-eco), badge type (.badge-type)

9. **100+ New i18n Keys**
   - Version history keys (18): version_history, version_history_title, version_number, version_current, version_preview, version_restore, etc.
   - Drawing zoom keys: zoom_in, zoom_out
   - Student login keys (50+): student login, parent portal, settings labels
   - Calendar recurring keys (35+): recurring event labels, repeat types, interval
   - Reports PDF keys: template selection, batch generation
   - Import/export keys: drag-and-drop, type selector, progress

10. **3 New Prisma Models / Fields**
    - `NotebookPageVersion` — Version history for notebook pages with auto-incrementing version numbers
    - `ParentStudentLink` — Links between parent users and student records with relationship type
    - CalendarEvent recurrence fields — recurrencePattern, recurrenceEnd, parentEventId self-relation

11. **New API Routes**
    - `/api/notebooks/[id]/pages/[pageId]/versions` — GET (list), POST (create), PUT (restore) page versions
    - `/api/parent-links` — GET (list), POST (create), DELETE (remove) parent-student links
    - `/api/parent-links/[id]` — GET, PUT, DELETE individual parent-student links
    - `/api/data-import` — POST CSV import for students/assessments/grades
    - `/api/calendar-events` — Updated with recurring event support
    - `/api/calendar-events/[id]` — Updated with series/instance edit modes

- Dev server: Running cleanly on port 3000
